Ele’s Place is a healing center providing free grief support groups for children, teens, young adults, and their families who have lost a loved one. With locations in Ann Arbor, Lansing, Grand Rapids, and Flint, Ele’s Place serves grieving families across Michigan with age-appropriate, peer-based bereavement support that helps young people process loss and build resilience.
What to Expect
Groups are organized by age and type of loss, ensuring participants connect with peers who share similar experiences. Younger children engage through art, play, and storytelling activities that help them express grief in developmentally appropriate ways. Teen and young adult groups use discussion, creative expression, and peer connection. Concurrent parent/caregiver groups provide adults with their own support while their children attend. Trained facilitators guide all groups with sensitivity and expertise.

Ele’s Place was founded in 1991 and has grown to become one of the largest grief support organizations for young people in the United States. Named for a child who experienced the death of her father, Ele’s Place embodies the belief that no child should grieve alone. Their evidence-informed program serves thousands of families each year.
