About NAMI Whatcom County
NAMI Whatcom County is the Bellingham-area affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, serving individuals and families in Whatcom County in the northwestern corner of Washington State. The chapter provides free peer-led support groups, education programs, and community advocacy for people affected by mental illness in the Bellingham area and surrounding communities near the Canadian border.
What Groups Are Offered?
NAMI Whatcom County offers NAMI Connection Recovery Support Groups for adults living with mental health conditions and NAMI Family Support Groups for family members and caregivers. Educational programs include Family-to-Family classes. Groups are facilitated by trained volunteers with lived experience. Both in-person meetings at their Bellingham center and virtual options are available.
Who Can Join?
Programs are open to anyone in Whatcom County affected by mental health conditions. Connection groups welcome adults (18+) with mental health conditions; Family groups serve loved ones and caregivers. No diagnosis, referral, or insurance needed.

What to Expect
