SMART Recovery – Colorado Springs
About This Group
SMART Recovery in Colorado Springs offers free, science-based support groups for individuals seeking recovery from addiction. SMART (Self-Management and Recovery Training) is a secular, evidence-based alternative to 12-step programs that empowers participants to manage their own recovery using tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing. Colorado Springs groups include specialized meetings for military veterans and first responders.
What to Expect
Meetings follow SMART Recovery’s 4-Point Program: (1) Building and maintaining motivation, (2) Coping with urges, (3) Managing thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and (4) Living a balanced life. Sessions are facilitated by trained volunteers and typically last 60–90 minutes. SMART Recovery does not require belief in a higher power, encourages open group discussion, and fully supports medication-assisted treatment. Participants attend at their own pace and may “graduate” when ready.
