Survivors of Suicide Loss (SOS) - Albuquerque NM
About This Group
Survivors of Suicide Loss (SOS) Albuquerque provides peer-led support groups specifically for people who have lost someone to suicide. Founded in 1978, SOS is one of the longest-running suicide loss survivor support organizations in the country. The organization offers six free meetings per month, providing a compassionate community where survivors can share their grief, find understanding, and begin the healing process among others who have experienced a similar loss.
What to Expect
SOS support groups are facilitated by trained peer leaders who are themselves survivors of suicide loss. Meetings provide a safe, confidential space to share feelings, ask questions, and process the complex grief that accompanies a death by suicide. The groups address the unique aspects of suicide grief including shock, guilt, anger, stigma, and the search for understanding. New members are welcomed with compassion and are never pressured to share until they feel ready.
