Hospice of Southern West Virginia, based in Beckley, provides compassionate end-of-life care and comprehensive bereavement services for families and community members throughout southern West Virginia. Their bereavement program offers professionally facilitated grief support groups, telephone support, grief literature, and individual counseling to help those mourning the loss of a loved one—whether or not the deceased was a hospice patient.

What Groups Are Offered?

Hospice of Southern WV offers 6-week bereavement support group series facilitated by trained bereavement professionals. Groups provide structured sessions covering the grief process, common grief reactions, coping strategies, adjusting to life after loss, and finding meaning and hope. Monthly grief newsletters and telephone support provide ongoing connection between group sessions. Individual grief counseling is also available.

Who Can Join?

Bereavement support groups are open to any adult in southern West Virginia who has experienced the death of a loved one, regardless of whether the deceased was a hospice patient. There is no time requirement regarding when the loss occurred. Pre-registration is recommended for group series.

Meeting Schedule & Location

Six-week group series are offered at the Hospice of Southern WV facility at 456 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV. Groups run periodically throughout the year. Contact the bereavement department for current group schedules and registration.
