About This Group
Alaska Behavioral Health offers a Veterans PTSD Support Group and a Military Sexual Trauma (MST) Support Group for veterans and service members in Anchorage. These peer-led groups provide a safe, understanding environment where veterans can share their experiences with post-traumatic stress, connect with others who have served, and learn coping strategies for managing PTSD symptoms in daily life.
What to Expect
Groups are led by peer support specialists with military experience. Sessions focus on open discussion, mutual support, and practical strategies for managing trauma symptoms including hypervigilance, nightmares, avoidance, and emotional numbing. The PTSD group meets on the last Wednesday of each month, and the MST group meets on the last Thursday. Alaska Behavioral Health also operates a Peer Drop-in Center where veterans can access additional support services in a welcoming, low-barrier environment.
