About This Group

The BPD Loss Family Bereavement Support Group is a compassionate, peer-led space for loved ones who have lost someone who lived with borderline personality disorder (BPD). The death of someone with BPD is often unexpected and traumatic — suicide and substance-related deaths are painfully common — and the grief that follows can be complicated by feelings of guilt, anger, confusion, and isolation. This group provides a safe place to process that unique grief alongside others who truly understand.

What to Expect

Sessions are 75 minutes long and held online via Zoom, making them accessible from anywhere. Each meeting is co-facilitated by two trained volunteers with lived experience of BPD. The format encourages open, nonjudgmental sharing while also providing coping strategies and resources. The first 30 participants are admitted on a first-come, first-served basis, so joining a few minutes early is recommended. You are never required to share — listening is always welcome.

About Emotions Matter

Emotions Matter is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2015 to support, educate, and advocate for people impacted by borderline personality disorder. The organization serves over 1,000 people annually through online peer support groups, all created and facilitated by individuals with lived experience of BPD. Their mission is to create a world where every person affected by BPD has access to the resources, treatment, and support they need for meaningful recovery.
