Stillwater Counseling & Wellness — Depression & Mood Support Group (Denver, CO)
About This Group
The Depression & Mood Support Group at Stillwater Counseling & Wellness provides a safe, structured space for adults navigating depression, persistent low mood, or emotional numbness. Led by Dr. Sarah Mitchell, this group combines cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with behavioral activation and interpersonal skill-building to help participants break the cycle of depression, reconnect with activities that bring meaning, and build supportive connections with others who understand the weight of living with a mood disorder.
What to Expect
This small group (6–8 participants) meets weekly for 90-minute sessions. Each session follows a structured format that includes a check-in, psychoeducation on a depression-related topic (such as the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors), guided skill practice, and group discussion. Participants learn to recognize and challenge negative thought patterns, set achievable goals for behavioral activation, improve interpersonal communication, and develop a sustainable self-care routine. The group balances structure with warmth, creating a space where vulnerability is welcomed.
Who It’s For
Adults (18+) experiencing major depressive disorder, persistent depressive disorder (dysthymia), seasonal affective disorder, or chronic low mood. This group is appropriate for individuals currently in individual therapy or as a standalone group experience.
