About This Group

The Anchorage Vet Center, part of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, provides free readjustment counseling and support services for veterans, active-duty service members, and their families. Services include individual and group counseling for PTSD, depression, anxiety, military sexual trauma (MST), and readjustment challenges. The Vet Center offers a community-based, non-clinical setting that many veterans find more comfortable than traditional VA facilities.

What to Expect

Counseling services are provided by licensed professionals who specialize in working with veterans and military families. Group therapy sessions address common combat-related and military-related mental health challenges. The center offers a welcoming, veteran-friendly environment with extended Monday hours to accommodate work schedules. Services are confidential and separate from VA medical records.

About the Vet Center Program

The Anchorage Vet Center is part of the VA’s national network of community-based Vet Centers that provide readjustment counseling, outreach, and referral services to veterans who served in combat zones, experienced military sexual trauma, or provided emergency medical care or mortuary services. Vet Centers are designed to be accessible, comfortable spaces where veterans can get help without the bureaucracy sometimes associated with larger VA facilities.
