Free Cancer Support Groups — Danbury, CT | Ann's Place
Ann’s Place is a Connecticut nonprofit in Danbury that walks alongside anyone affected by cancer. Its free support groups give patients, survivors, caregivers, and grieving family members a safe, confidential place to learn from one another, share their experiences, and offer support in return — no one has to face cancer alone.
What to Expect
Ann’s Place offers a wide range of support groups, most meeting once or twice a month, some during the day and some in the evening, in person at Ann’s Place and several via Zoom. Experienced clinicians facilitate the groups, which are organized around specific needs — from breast, lung, blood, gastrointestinal, gynecological, prostate, and metastatic or Stage 4 cancers to groups for caregivers, couples, young adults, and those grieving a loss. There are Spanish-language groups, faith-based and spiritual groups, art and movement groups, and peer-to-peer gatherings such as The Comfort Zone, where clients simply connect over coffee.
Who This Group Is For
Groups are open to adults anywhere along the cancer journey — newly diagnosed, in treatment, post-treatment, or living with incurable cancer — as well as to the family members, partners, and caregivers who support them, and to those bereaved by cancer. Ann’s Place serves Connecticut and New York’s Hudson Valley.
Why Peer Support Works
Cancer reshapes daily life in ways that are hard to explain to people who haven’t experienced it. Being among others who truly understand reduces isolation, normalizes difficult emotions, and surfaces practical wisdom about treatment, relationships, and coping. Facilitated groups pair that shared experience with professional guidance, so support stays both grounded and safe.
How to Join
All programs are free. New clients begin with a brief intake and can join Connections, a weekly group offered during their first six weeks. To get started, call (203) 790-6568 or email info@annsplace.org, or view the current calendar of programs on the Ann’s Place website. Ann’s Place is located at 80 Saw Mill Road, Danbury, CT 06810.
