SafeHomes Domestic Violence Center is the only state-certified domestic violence agency serving East Central Georgia, covering Burke, Columbia, Glascock, Jefferson, Lincoln, McDuffie, Richmond, Taliaferro, Warren, and Wilkes counties. Alongside emergency shelter, legal advocacy, and a 24-hour crisis hotline, SafeHomes offers free support groups for survivors of domestic violence — including separate groups for men, women, teens, and children.
What to Expect
SafeHomes describes its support groups as a place to find strength among others who’ve been on a similar journey while rebuilding their lives. Because SafeHomes serves such a wide, largely rural service area, exact meeting days and times aren’t published online and can shift based on need and location — staff ask that anyone interested contact them directly for current scheduling. The agency also runs a Rural County Outreach program, meeting survivors at safe locations outside Augusta and providing transportation to services for people in the outlying counties they serve.
Who This Group Is For
Support groups are available for men, women, teens, and children who have experienced domestic violence — a broader offering than many DV agencies, which often serve women exclusively. If transportation is a barrier, especially from one of SafeHomes’ rural counties, their outreach team can help arrange safe transport to a group or to their Richmond County office.
