Free Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support — CT | Hope After Loss

Hope After Loss (formerly the Hygeia Foundation) offers free peer-to-peer support in Connecticut for women and men grieving the loss of a pregnancy or an infant. Their monthly meetings make space to connect with others who have lived through similar losses, in an environment built on understanding, compassion, and respect.

What to Expect
Each support group meeting is led either by trained volunteer facilitators who have themselves experienced the loss of a pregnancy or infant, or by professional perinatal loss counselors. All groups are walk-in: new participants are always welcome, and you may attend as many or as few meetings as you like. To join, you simply come to a meeting — by yourself, with your partner, or with a relative or friend. There is never any pressure to speak, you are welcome to come just to listen. Most people feel nervous before their first meeting, and nearly everyone is glad they came.

Who This Group Is For
The loss groups are open to anyone who has lost a pregnancy or infant, no matter how recently or how long ago the loss occurred. Partners, spouses, and family members are welcome to attend together.

Why Peer Support Works
Pregnancy and infant loss is often grieved quietly and alone, surrounded by people who care but do not fully understand. Being in a room — physical or virtual — with others who carry the same kind of grief can loosen that isolation. Shared experience validates emotions that are hard to put into words and reminds bereaved parents that their loss, and their baby, matter.

How to Join
All groups are free, and no registration is required — simply come to a meeting. Current schedules are posted on the Hope After Loss website, and you can contact Christina through the organization for more information about upcoming meetings.
