Grief Support Groups - HopeHealth - Free Virtual, MA & RI

HopeHealth, one of New England’s oldest nonprofit hospice and palliative care organizations, extends its bereavement care to the whole community through a comprehensive lineup of grief support groups serving Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Groups are organized by type of loss, so you can sit with people whose grief looks like yours.

What to Expect

HopeHealth invites grievers to join any of its many specialty and general groups — offerings for adults, for children, and even for healthcare providers carrying professional grief. Many groups meet virtually, making them accessible across both states, and specialty groups address specific losses, including spousal and partner loss. HopeHealth also maintains caregiver support groups — a general caregiver group plus dementia-specific and Parkinson’s-specific groups — along with a grief support blog and readings library for support between meetings.

Who This Group Is For

Adults, children, families, caregivers, and healthcare workers across Massachusetts and Rhode Island who are grieving a death or supporting someone through serious illness. You don’t need a connection to HopeHealth’s hospice services to join — the groups are a community resource.

Why Peer Support Works

Loss-specific groups matter because grief is specific: a widow’s Tuesday-evening loneliness, a caregiver’s anticipatory mourning, a nurse’s accumulated losses each need their own room. Matching grievers by type of loss accelerates the moment every group exists for — when someone across the screen says exactly what you’ve been feeling, and you realize you’re not the only one.
