Free Kidney Disease Peer Support - Colorado | NKF Peers

About This Group

NKF Peers is the National Kidney Foundation’s free peer support program for people with late-stage kidney disease, people on dialysis or living with a transplant, living donors, people considering donation, and care partners. In the foundation’s words, you’ll receive one-on-one support from others living with kidney disease who are trained to guide and support you.

What to Expect

After a brief form, an NKF social worker connects you with a trained mentor matched on what matters to you: age, stage of kidney disease, type of dialysis, cause, and more. Everything happens over a toll-free confidential phone line or the program’s chat app, so there’s no extra appointment to travel to. The program operates in English and Spanish, weekdays 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM Eastern. Every mentor completes NKF training in confidentiality, grief, empathy, and active listening. For group connection, NKF’s free, anonymous online communities let patients and caregivers share experiences and get answers, and the Renal Support Network hosts national online support group meetings.
