About This Group

The MSUD Family Support Group formed in 1982 when a group of families gathered together for mutual support and shared information about maple syrup urine disease (MSUD), a rare inherited metabolic disorder that requires lifelong dietary management. It is now an international, volunteer-run nonprofit connecting families, clinicians, and researchers worldwide.

Ways to Find Support

The group’s Community Connection program fosters a space for shared experiences and mutual support, with events, webinars, and meetups for learning and connection. The MSUD Ambassador Program empowers families to represent the organization in their own communities and share their stories. A biennial international symposium brings together families and professionals, and newly diagnosed families can call any Board of Directors member directly to learn more.
