About This Group
Mental Health America of Ohio (MHA Ohio) is the state’s premier mental health advocacy and support organization, offering over 40 monthly support groups, the POEM program (Perinatal Outreach and Encouragement for Moms), peer mentoring, and community education. Based in Columbus with statewide reach, MHA Ohio provides free or low-cost support for individuals living with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, OCD, schizophrenia, perinatal mental health conditions, and other mental illnesses.
What to Expect
MHA Ohio hosts more than 40 support groups each month covering a wide range of mental health conditions. Groups are facilitated by trained peers and professionals in welcoming, non-judgmental settings. The POEM program specifically serves new and expectant mothers experiencing perinatal mood disorders, offering peer mentoring, support groups (virtual and in-person), a talk and text support line, and the POEM Rise program designed for Black mothers. All programs emphasize lived experience, mutual support, and recovery.
