Seniors Resource Center — Free Caregiver Support Groups in Denver, CO

Enrolling now

Seniors Resource Center (SRC) in Denver offers free Caregiver Support meetings and coaching for family members and friends who are helping an older loved one age at home. As one of Colorado’s longest-running aging-services nonprofits, SRC pairs its peer-based caregiver support program with an Adult Day Center for the person being cared for — so caregivers can attend support meetings, get a few hours of respite, and walk away with practical tools to bring home. Services are funded so that no one is turned away for lack of ability to pay.

What to Expect

SRC’s Caregiver Support program is designed around the real shape of caregiving. Meetings give caregivers a place to receive emotional support, education, and coaching — sharing what’s working, what isn’t, and what the next stage might look like. Staff are trained in dementia care and aging-related transitions, and they regularly bring in practical content: how to manage a medication routine, how to talk to siblings, how to navigate Medicare and Medicaid, how to plan for the next level of care. Many families pair the support meetings with SRC’s Adult Day Program, which provides chef-prepared meals, supervised activities, and a team of dementia experts for the loved one while the caregiver gets a few hours of breathing room.

Who This Group Is For

The program welcomes family caregivers and close friends of older adults — including spouses, adult children, grandchildren, and neighbors who have taken on a caregiving role. It’s especially helpful for caregivers of people with Alzheimer’s, other dementias, Parkinson’s, or progressive physical conditions, though caregivers in any aging-related situation are welcome. Members live across the Denver metro area, including Jefferson, Adams, Arapahoe, and Denver counties.

Why Peer Support Works

Caregiving for an older loved one is full of decisions that don’t have a clear right answer. Should we move them? Should I quit my job? How do I talk to my sister about money? Hearing other caregivers describe similar moments — and the choices they made — gives families both information and permission. SRC’s combination of peer support and professional coaching is built for that reality. As one longtime member put it after years in the program: I attend the SRC Caregiver Support meetings and always learn something new to help me get through each day.
