Grief Support Groups at Little to No Cost - Colorado Springs | Voices of Grief
About This Group
Voices of Grief, now a program of Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care, serves El Paso and Teller counties with 10 to 15 closed grief support groups each year, facilitated by professional grief counselors and trained volunteers at locations across the Pikes Peak region.
What to Expect
Groups run four, six, or eight weeks depending on the curriculum. The cornerstone is Understanding Your Grief, an eight-week group built on Dr. Alan Wolfelt’s book. Specialized groups include Grief Journeys (six weeks, offered year-round), Gone Too Soon for those grieving a death from drugs, alcohol, or overdose, an Infant Loss group that incorporates art therapy, Navigating Early Grief for the first four to six months, and Facing the Mourning, built on the HeartLight Center workbook. Pikes Peak Hospice also hosts an ongoing monthly women’s group and an informal men’s group. New participants can join each group through its second week, after which it closes to build trust.
Cost
In the organization’s words, groups are offered at little to no cost, and scholarships are always available for those with financial need, so money never has to be the barrier.
