Well Connected - Front Porch - Free Phone Groups for Adults 60+
Well Connected, a community service of Front Porch (formerly known as Senior Center Without Walls), brings the senior center to wherever you are. It’s a community where older adults explore, laugh, learn, and share experiences — building caring friendships along the way, entirely by phone or online.
What to Expect
Well Connected runs sessions 365 days a year, free of charge to participants 60 and up. Offerings include support groups, friendly conversation, art, travel, music, reading, writing, meditation, and more — most groups run 30 to 90 minutes, with small discussion groups of up to 12 participants and larger presentation-style sessions. A seasonal catalog lists each session, and members can join as many as they like. Well Connected Español offers the same warmth and programming in Spanish.
Who This Is For
Adults 60 and older anywhere in the country who want connection without barriers — no transportation, mobility, or technology hurdles, since every activity works over a regular phone line. It’s especially suited to homebound elders and those in communities without a nearby senior center.
Why Peer Connection Works
Published research on the program found significant reductions in feelings of social isolation among participants, with the greatest gains among the most frequent users. Daily, low-pressure group contact rebuilds the social muscle loneliness erodes — and because groups are member-driven and facilitated by peers and volunteers, participants are contributors, not clients.
How to Join
Enrollment is free. Call (877) 797-7299 or enroll through frontporch.net/connect/well-connected, where the current Spring/Summer catalog is posted. Phone-only participation is always an option.
