Drop-In Grief Support Groups - Houston Hospice - Free, Texas

Houston Hospice, the city’s oldest nonprofit hospice, treats grief as what it is: the natural and expected reaction to losing someone you love. Feelings of sadness, yearning, guilt, regret and anger are normal — and its bereavement team backs that message with ongoing support groups that ask nothing more than showing up.

What to Expect

Ongoing grief support groups meet in person on a steady rhythm: at Houston Hospice (1905 Holcombe Blvd., First Floor Family Room) on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., or the 2nd and 4th Thursday from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. In Bay City, groups meet at First Presbyterian Church on the 1st and 3rd Thursday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., and in El Campo at Houston Hospice — El Campo on the 2nd and 4th Monday from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. There is no need to register for any of them. Houston Hospice also offers Life After Loss, a six-week bereavement group that helps participants understand the grief process, assess where they are, and plan how they will continue to heal.

Who This Group Is For

Adults in the greater Houston, Bay City, and El Campo areas grieving a death. Groups welcome the community; the team suggests allowing some time after your loss before attending.

Why Peer Support Works

Grieving with the support of others is a healthy way to honor your feelings so healing can begin. Drop-in groups remove the biggest barrier in early grief — committing in advance — while the structured Life After Loss series serves grievers ready for deeper, sequential work.

How to Join

Just show up to a drop-in group, or call the bereavement team at (713) 677-7155 (Houston) or (979) 578-0314 (Bay City/El Campo) for more information and Life After Loss enrollment.
