Free 24/7 Peer Mental Health Warmline Cleveland | Recovery
The Cuyahoga County Peer Support Warmline is a free, confidential, 24/7 phone line staffed by peer support workers — people in mental health and substance use recovery themselves — available to any adult in the Cleveland area who needs a listening ear. Operated by Recovery Resources and Thrive Peer Recovery Services in partnership with the ADAMHS Board of Cuyahoga County, the warmline is intentionally non-clinical and non-crisis: it is a place to talk before things get to a crisis, not after. Calls are answered around the clock, including overnight and on holidays.
What to Expect
You call (440) 886-5950 any time, day or night. A peer support worker picks up and listens. There is no script, no assessment form, no insurance check, no requirement to identify yourself, and no caller ID logging beyond what is needed to connect the call. Conversations are confidential. Peer workers can offer support around mental health symptoms, substance use, loneliness, sleep, relationships, or whatever you are sitting with. They can also make referrals to clinical providers, crisis services, or community resources if you ask — but the warmline itself is a peer space, not a triage line. Calls can be as short or as long as you need.
Who This Group Is For
Adult residents of Cuyahoga County who are experiencing mental health symptoms, substance use challenges, dual diagnosis, or who simply need to talk to someone who has been through similar experiences. The warmline is also open to family members and supporters trying to understand what their loved one is going through. There is no diagnosis required to call, and you do not need to be in active treatment or have any plan to enter it.
Why Peer Support Works
For many people, calling a clinical hotline feels like a step they are not ready to take. A warmline staffed by peers offers an in-between space — real human contact, real understanding, no pressure to be in crisis. Research on peer warmlines consistently finds that regular use reduces emergency room visits and 988 calls by giving people somewhere to talk before symptoms escalate. The peer workers staffing the line have themselves been on the other end of the call, and that shows in how they listen.
How to Join
Just call (440) 886-5950. The warmline is free and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
