Free Adult Grief Peer Support Groups Dallas, TX | GLC NTX

The Grief & Loss Center of North Texas (GLC NTX) offers a roster of free, no-cost virtual support groups for adults grieving the death of a loved one. Based in Dallas and serving the entire North Texas region, the center runs distinct monthly groups for spouse and partner loss, child loss (younger and older adult children), homicide loss, suicide loss of a child, family and friends loss, and a young adult (18-35) group — recognizing that different kinds of grief carry different weight and benefit from being in a room of people grieving in similar ways. The center has been operating across North Texas for over a decade.

What to Expect

All adult groups meet virtually via Zoom from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. CST on monthly cycles. The Older Adult Spouse/Partner Loss group meets the first Monday of each month; the Homicide Loss group meets the first Tuesday; the Suicide Loss of a Child group runs monthly on a posted schedule, as do Family and Friends Loss, Younger Adult Spouse/Partner Loss, and the Young Adult (18-35) group. Each group is facilitated by Director Laurie Taylor in a peer support format — opening with a check-in round, holding space for shared sharing, and closing with grounding. The center does not run July sessions, and exact dates are posted at the start of each calendar year.

Who This Group Is For

Adults 18 and older grieving a death — a spouse, partner, parent, child of any age, sibling, friend, or chosen family member. Groups are organized by relationship and cause of death so that members are with others walking similar grief, rather than navigating a generalist room where their story does not quite fit. The intake conversation (a short phone call) helps you and Laurie identify which group will feel most supportive, and you are welcome to attend more than one group if your loss fits into multiple categories.

Why Peer Support Works

Grief researchers and grievers consistently report the same thing: being with others who get it is often the most useful intervention available. Specialty grief groups — suicide loss, homicide loss, child loss, spouse loss — add another layer of fit, because the particulars of how someone died and the relationship lost shape grief in ways general bereavement groups cannot fully hold. The monthly cadence gives members a steady touchpoint without requiring weekly bandwidth.

How to Join

All groups are free. To schedule the intro phone call required before joining, call the Grief & Loss Center at (214) 452-3105 or visit mygriefandloss.org. The center is physically located at 4316 Abrams Road, Dallas, TX 75214, though all adult groups currently meet on Zoom.
