Free ANAD Body Image & Eating Disorder Peer Support — Online, Nationwide
ANAD (National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders) pioneered peer support groups for eating disorders and today operates the largest free peer support network of its kind in the United States. ANAD groups serve as an entry point for people navigating body image concerns, disordered eating, or full eating disorders — no diagnosis required.
What to Expect
Confidential 75-minute virtual support groups, kept small to allow everyone to participate. Each group is led by a trained volunteer with lived experience of eating disorder recovery, who uses ANAD’s safety guidelines to keep the space supportive and non-triggering. Video usage is encouraged when speaking but not required.
Group Schedule
Weekly recurring meetings via Zoom. Specialty groups include Body Image, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, Larger Body, ARFID, Adolescent/Teen (ages 13-17), Men, Parents, Family & Friends, and general recovery groups. Meeting times rotate across days and time zones. Register on the ANAD site for the group that fits.
Recovery Mentor Program
ANAD’s free Recovery Mentor program pairs individuals working on eating disorder or body image recovery with a trained mentor who has lived experience and significant time in recovery. Mentors meet 1:1 with mentees by phone or video over a structured period. Apply through the ANAD website.
Who This Is For
Anyone aged 18+ (or 13+ for the Adolescent group) navigating body image distress, disordered eating, anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, ARFID, OSFED, or eating disorder recovery. No diagnosis is required to join. Family members and loved ones have their own dedicated group.
