Free Dementia Caregiver Support — San Diego, CA | SCRC
Southern Caregiver Resource Center (SCRC) is a nonprofit that provides free caregiving support to family caregivers of adults living with Alzheimer’s disease, related dementias, and other chronic and disabling conditions across San Diego and Imperial Counties. Since 1987, SCRC has helped families carry the emotional and practical weight of caregiving.
What to Expect
SCRC’s support groups bring caregivers together in a safe, understanding environment to share experiences, discuss challenges, and find mutual support. Groups are offered in English and Spanish and are complemented by free counseling, care planning, educational workshops, livestream classes, and the CareNav online portal. Members connect with others who truly understand the day-to-day realities of caring for someone with dementia.
Who This Group Is For
These groups are for any San Diego or Imperial County resident caring for an adult with a chronic and disabling condition, including family members, partners, and friends serving as unpaid caregivers.
Why Peer Support Works
Caregiving can be isolating and exhausting, and caregivers often put their own needs last. Peer support offers a reminder that no one is alone, a space to process difficult emotions without judgment, and access to strategies other caregivers have found helpful.
How to Join
All services are free. Call SCRC at (858) 268-4432 or email scrc@caregivercenter.org to learn about current support groups and to connect with services.
