DBSA Tampa Bay — Free Depression & Bipolar Peer Support — Tampa
DBSA Tampa Bay (Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance) has offered free peer-to-peer mood disorder support in the Tampa community since 1985. The chapter is run by trained peer facilitators who themselves live with depression or bipolar disorder.
What to Expect
Confidential, drop-in support meetings where attendees share their experiences, coping strategies, and recovery wins. No registration is required. You can listen-only or participate as much as feels right. Meetings are not therapy — they are mutual peer support.
Meeting Schedule
Tuesdays 7:00–8:30 PM in person at Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church, 3501 W. San Jose St., Tampa, FL 33629. Friday mornings 10:00–11:00 AM at 304 W. Waters Ave., Tampa (a meeting geared toward individuals experiencing homelessness or in substance-use recovery alongside a mood disorder). Wednesdays 7:00 PM virtual via Zoom for Tampa Bay area residents who cannot attend in person.
Who This Group Is For
Adults (18+) diagnosed with major depressive disorder, bipolar I or II, cyclothymia, or related mood disorders. Family members and loved ones are welcome at most meetings.
Why Peer Support Works
Sharing space with people who have lived through similar struggles reduces isolation, normalizes the recovery journey, and exposes attendees to strategies that have worked for others. DBSA chapters complement — but do not replace — clinical care.
How to Join
Just show up at any meeting. No phone call, intake, or registration required. Visit dbsatampabay.org for the current schedule, or contact the chapter through the website for questions about a specific meeting.
