DBSA Tucson — Free Depression & Bipolar Peer Support — Tucson

DBSA Tucson (Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance) is a free, peer-led chapter serving adults in Tucson and surrounding Pima County who live with depression, bipolar disorder, or related mood conditions. The chapter is run by trained peer facilitators who themselves live with mood disorders, and has supported the Tucson community for years.

What to Expect

Confidential drop-in peer support meetings where attendees share experiences, coping strategies, and recovery progress with peers living through the same conditions. Meetings are not therapy and are not a replacement for clinical care — they are mutual peer support that complements clinical treatment.

Meeting Schedule

Sundays 6:00–7:30 PM at St. Philip’s in the Hills (La Parroquia building), located at the northeast corner of Campbell Avenue at River Road in Tucson. Doors lock and no admittance is permitted after 6:10 PM, so please arrive on time. No reservations or calls required. Meetings are free of charge.

Who This Group Is For

Adults (18+) diagnosed with major depressive disorder, bipolar I or II, cyclothymia, persistent depressive disorder, or related mood disorders. People who suspect a mood disorder but have not yet been diagnosed are welcome — DBSA is not a diagnostic program but provides community while members sort out clinical questions with their providers. Family members and supporters are welcome at most meetings.

Why Peer Support Works

Mood disorders are isolating by nature — depression flattens motivation to connect with anyone, and bipolar swings disrupt the consistency that close relationships depend on. Spending time with people who understand without explanation reduces shame, normalizes recovery, and exposes attendees to coping strategies that have worked for others living the same diagnosis.
