SafeHaven — Free Domestic Violence Survivor Peer Support — Tarrant County, TX
SafeHaven of Tarrant County is the county’s only comprehensive domestic violence agency — providing free emergency shelter, transitional housing, counseling, legal advocacy, prevention programming, and survivor peer support groups across Fort Worth, Arlington, and the broader Tarrant County. SafeHaven’s survivor support groups bring together people who have experienced intimate partner violence in confidential peer-driven settings where members can speak honestly and learn from others walking similar roads.
What to Expect
SafeHaven’s free survivor support groups meet on a regular schedule across multiple Tarrant County locations and online. Groups serve women survivors, men survivors, LGBTQ+ survivors (through dedicated programming under the PAIP framework), Spanish-speaking survivors, parents of children affected by DV, and survivors with specific life circumstances (housing instability, immigration concerns, mental health needs). Beyond support groups, SafeHaven operates the county’s only domestic violence shelters, transitional housing, court advocacy, counseling, and a 24/7 hotline. The organization also runs the PAIP (Partner Abuse Intervention Program), prevention curriculum for youth, and community education.

SafeHaven serves survivors of intimate partner violence across Tarrant County — including women, men, transgender survivors, LGBTQ+ survivors, immigrant survivors, and survivors with children. Members include people currently in unsafe situations, people recently exited, and people years past the abuse who are still working through impacts. Specialized LGBTQ+ programming under PAIP addresses the additional barriers queer and trans survivors often face in mainstream DV services.
