About This Group

Healing Hearts of Southeast Wisconsin provides free peer-led grief support groups for children, teens, young adults, and their families. Recognizing that grief from any significant loss — death, divorce, addiction, or other life changes — profoundly impacts young people, Healing Hearts creates safe spaces where youth can express their feelings, connect with peers who understand, and develop healthy coping skills.

Groups Offered

• Children’s Grief Support Groups: Age-appropriate peer groups for children who have experienced the loss of a loved one, using creative activities, storytelling, and guided discussion
• Teen Grief Support Groups: Peer groups for teenagers navigating grief, addressing the unique challenges of adolescent bereavement
• Young Adult Groups: Support for young adults (18–25) processing grief and loss during a formative life stage
• Parent/Caregiver Groups: Concurrent groups for adults who are parenting grieving children, offering strategies and mutual support

Who Can Join

Open to children, teens, young adults, and families in the greater Milwaukee and southeast Wisconsin area who are grieving any type of significant loss. No referral, diagnosis, or insurance needed. Grief from death, divorce, addiction, incarceration, or other losses is all welcome.

Meeting Schedule

Groups meet in multi-week sessions throughout the year at locations across southeast Wisconsin. Pre-registration required. Contact Healing Hearts for the current session schedule and locations.

What to Expect

Groups are facilitated by trained volunteers who create a warm, safe environment for youth to express their feelings. Activities are age-appropriate and may include art, journaling, group games, and guided discussion. Children and teens are grouped by age, and concurrent caregiver groups allow parents to receive support while their children attend. Each session follows a structured curriculum designed specifically for young grievers.

Cost & Confidentiality

All programs are completely free. Confidentiality is maintained in all groups. Healing Hearts of Southeast Wisconsin is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
