About This Group
People First of Missouri is a peer-led self-advocacy organization for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through local chapter meetings across the state, People First empowers members to speak up for their rights, make their own choices, and participate fully in their communities. Chapters provide peer support, leadership development, community education, and advocacy training in an inclusive, supportive environment.
What to Expect
People First chapter meetings are led by and for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Meetings provide a space for members to discuss issues that affect their lives, learn about their rights, develop leadership and self-advocacy skills, and support one another. Activities may include community education projects, legislative advocacy, social events, and peer mentoring. Members learn to speak up for themselves and others, make informed decisions, and build meaningful community connections. New members are always welcome.
