Free PKU & Allied Disorders Family Support - Colorado | IPAD

About This Group

The Intermountain PKU and Allied Disorders Association (IPAD) was founded in 2008 by Amy Oliver after her newborn daughter was diagnosed with phenylketonuria (PKU) and Amy could not find another local family to connect with. PKU is a genetic metabolic disorder that requires a strict lifelong low-protein diet and special medical formula to prevent severe neurological complications. IPAD serves as the regional support organization for Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada, and Colorado, and is a member organization of the National PKU Alliance.

Ways to Find Support

IPAD connects around 8 newly diagnosed families a year across the Intermountain region with a community of people who understand PKU and allied disorders, plus resources on insurance, medical food, and local events like family days and educational meetings. IPAD’s Facebook community stays active with updates throughout the year, and the National PKU Alliance also offers monthly virtual peer support groups called Community Calls open to families anywhere.
