About This Group

Postpartum Support International’s West Virginia Chapter provides critical support for mothers and families experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, including postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD, and psychosis. The WV chapter connects new and expecting parents with trained peer mentors, support groups, and professional resources throughout the state. With West Virginia’s rural geography making in-person mental health access challenging, PSI’s hybrid model ensures no mother has to suffer alone.

Groups Offered

  • Online Postpartum Support Group: Weekly virtual group for mothers experiencing postpartum depression, anxiety, or other perinatal mood disorders, facilitated by trained peer mentors who have personal experience with recovery
  • Pregnant & Postpartum During COVID & Beyond: Support for mothers navigating the unique stressors of early parenthood in challenging circumstances
  • Dad’s Support Group: Virtual group for fathers and partners dealing with the emotional challenges of the perinatal period
  • Loss & Grief Support: For parents who have experienced pregnancy loss, stillbirth, or infant loss

Who Can Join

Open to all pregnant individuals, new parents (up to the first few years postpartum), and their partners or family members throughout West Virginia. No diagnosis or referral is needed. The helpline is available to anyone concerned about their own or a loved one’s perinatal mental health.

Meeting Schedule

Virtual support groups meet weekly on various days and times to accommodate different schedules. The PSI Helpline is available Monday through Friday. What to Expect

Support groups provide a safe, welcoming space where parents can share their experiences without judgment. Sessions are led by trained peer mentors—women who have personally recovered from perinatal mood disorders—and typically include check-ins, resource sharing, and open discussion. Virtual groups use secure video platforms, and participants can join with cameras on or off based on their comfort level. The helpline connects callers with local resources, support groups, and providers.

Cost & Confidentiality

All PSI support groups and helpline services are completely free. Confidentiality is maintained in all group settings—what is shared in group stays in group. If a participant expresses immediate risk of harm to themselves or others, facilitators are trained to connect them with emergency resources. PSI is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing awareness and treatment of perinatal mental health.
