SMART Recovery Indiana offers science-based addiction recovery support groups across the state. Using cognitive-behavioral techniques and motivational strategies, SMART Recovery provides a secular, self-empowering alternative to traditional 12-step programs for individuals struggling with addictive behaviors including substance use and behavioral addictions.
What to Expect
SMART Recovery meetings are led by trained facilitators and focus on four key program points: building and maintaining motivation, coping with urges, managing thoughts and behaviors, and living a balanced life. Meetings incorporate tools from rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). Cross-talk and discussion are encouraged, and the atmosphere is supportive and non-judgmental. No labels are required — you won’t be asked to identify as an “addict” or “alcoholic.”
