About This Group

The South Jersey Vet Center provides readjustment counseling and outreach services to veterans, active duty service members, and their families in the southern New Jersey region. Vet Centers offer confidential, community-based counseling for combat-related trauma, PTSD, military sexual trauma, bereavement, and the challenges of transitioning from military to civilian life. The center provides a welcoming, informal environment separate from VA medical centers, staffed by counselors who understand military culture.

What to Expect

Veterans visiting the South Jersey Vet Center can expect a warm, informal atmosphere where counselors — many of whom are veterans themselves — provide empathetic, culturally competent support. Services include individual counseling, group therapy, family counseling, bereavement counseling, and assistance with VA benefits and community referrals. There is no formal diagnostic requirement to receive services, and the focus is on practical support for readjustment and recovery.

About the Vet Center Program

Vet Centers are community-based counseling centers operated by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Established in 1979, the program provides readjustment services to combat veterans, veterans who experienced military sexual trauma, and their families in a non-clinical, welcoming setting.
