About Survivors of Violence Services (SVS)
Survivors of Violence Services (SVS) is a nonprofit organization providing comprehensive support to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other forms of interpersonal violence in the Salt Lake City, Tooele, and Price areas of Utah. SVS offers 24-hour crisis support, emergency shelter, counseling, support groups, case management, and legal advocacy through licensed professionals and trained advocates committed to helping survivors achieve safety and healing.
What Groups Are Offered?
SVS offers therapeutic support groups for adult survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault survivor support groups, children’s groups for young witnesses of violence, and psychoeducational groups covering safety planning, healthy relationships, trauma recovery, and self-care. Groups are facilitated by licensed counselors and trained advocates in a trauma-informed setting. Individual counseling is also available alongside group programming.
Who Can Join?
Services are available to any survivor of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, or stalking in the Salt Lake, Tooele, and Carbon County areas. Services are provided regardless of gender, age, immigration status, sexual orientation, disability, or income level. You do not need to be a shelter resident to participate in counseling and support groups. All services are voluntary and survivor-directed.
Meeting Schedule & Location
Support groups meet on regular weekly schedules at SVS offices in Salt Lake City, Tooele, and Price. Specific meeting times and locations are provided during intake to protect participant safety. Crisis services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

What to Expect
When you contact SVS, an advocate will complete a confidential assessment and work with you to develop a safety and service plan. Support groups are facilitated by trained professionals in a safe, confidential environment where survivors can share experiences, process trauma, and build coping skills alongside others who understand. Advocates also help with protective orders, housing, and connecting to community resources.
Cost & Confidentiality
All SVS services, including support groups, counseling, shelter, and legal advocacy, are provided free of charge. Strict confidentiality is maintained in accordance with state and federal law, including VAWA protections. Shelter locations are confidential and all client information is protected.
