Free Military Loss Survivor Support Groups - Nationwide | TAPS Care Groups
About This Group
TAPS, the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, is the national organization for everyone grieving the death of a military or veteran loved one. Per Military OneSource, TAPS is free for surviving families and loved ones, and it explicitly welcomes survivors who are not eligible for government benefits, including parents, siblings, significant others, unmarried partners, and ex-spouses.
What to Expect
TAPS Care Groups are local survivor support groups across the country, each co-hosted by a volunteer TAPS Peer Mentor and/or a volunteer mental health professional. In TAPS’s own words, there is no guided, structured therapy. Instead, we offer the most therapeutic thing we can imagine: time to talk, opportunities to listen, and the precious feeling of knowing we are not alone. Beyond Care Groups, TAPS runs communities for surviving women, surviving men, young adults 18 to 30, and children through its Youth Programs, plus dedicated suicide loss support and a peer mentor program matching survivors with someone 18 or more months past a similar loss.
Who This Is For
Anyone grieving a military or veteran death, regardless of the circumstances of the death, your relationship to the person, their branch, or where the death occurred.
