CHANGES & Journey Grief Groups - Pathways - Free, Long Beach CA
Pathways has been a reassuring presence in the Greater Lakewood and Long Beach, California area for nearly 40 years, helping hundreds of thousands of neighbors endure the most difficult moments of their lives. Its commitment is unambiguous: quality care at no cost — all of Pathways’ services come free to clients and their families.
What to Expect
Pathways’ grief support spans all ages. The CHANGES family grief program supports grieving families together, the Journey adult grief support groups give grieving adults a steady peer circle, and a school-based bereavement program brings grief support directly to children where they spend their days. Programs are designed to promote independence and self-esteem while walking with grievers through loss at their own pace.
Who This Group Is For
Children, teens, adults, and families in the Lakewood/Long Beach region of Los Angeles County grieving a death. With family, adult, and school-based tracks, there’s an entry point for every age and circumstance — and never a bill.
Why Peer Support Works
Four decades of community grief work rest on a simple observation: people heal better together. Family programs let households grieve as a unit instead of in isolation; adult peer groups normalize the slow work of mourning; school-based groups reach children who would never otherwise find their way to a grief center. Free access keeps the door open for everyone.
