Free Children's Grief Program — Volusia | BeginAgain
BeginAgain is Halifax Health Hospice’s free children’s grief program, designed to meet the unique grief needs of children ages 4 to 18 who have experienced the death of someone close to them. Modeled after the Dougy Center in Portland, its child-friendly centers encourage grief expression in the ways best suited to children and teens.
What to Expect
BeginAgain offers support groups for children and their caregivers, plus individual and family sessions. Children explore grief through art, drama, music, and physical activity in a safe, welcoming environment, guided by counselors and trained volunteers. Caregivers meet in their own groups so the whole family is supported.
Who This Group Is For
This is for grieving children and teens ages 4-18 and their families across Volusia, Orange, and Osceola counties. A parent or guardian’s consent is required to enroll.
Why Peer Support Works
Children often grieve in isolation, unsure how to name what they feel. Bringing them together with peers who understand — and with adults specially trained in children’s grief — normalizes their experience and gives them creative, developmentally appropriate ways to heal.
