Free Peer Recovery Support Groups — Louisiana | Start Corp

The Regional Recovery Hub, run by Start Corporation, is a free one-stop recovery space for anyone in Louisiana dealing with substance use. It is built on the idea that recovery is easier to sustain inside a community than alone, so the Hub combines peer recovery support groups with coaching, practical help, and a place to simply be around other people who are working on the same thing. Start Corporation operates in-person hub locations across south Louisiana and will talk with anyone in the state by phone or virtually.

What to Expect

Peer recovery support groups give members a place to share experiences, learn coping strategies, and work through problems together with people at various stages of recovery. Alongside the groups, the Hub offers recovery coaching, mental health resource navigation, on-site AA and NA meetings, virtual support, and advocacy. There is a practical layer too: help with resume writing, job training, and computer access, plus free nasal naloxone and fentanyl test strips. Phone calls, virtual appointments, and walk-ins are all welcome, so you do not have to commit to anything before you show up.

Who This Group Is For

Adults in Louisiana who are in recovery from substance use or who are ready to start, at any stage — including people who have relapsed, people who are still deciding, and people who have been sober for years and want community. Harm-reduction supplies are available without judgment or preconditions. Family members and supporters looking for direction are also welcome to call. Everything is free.

Why Peer Support Works

Peer recovery support is one of the most consistently useful supports in the substance use field, and the reason is not complicated. Isolation and shame are two of the strongest drivers of return to use, and a room full of people who have been through it dismantles both quickly. Peers also model something a clinician cannot: proof that the thing you are attempting is survivable, done by somebody standing in front of you. The wraparound pieces matter just as much — housing instability, unemployment, and no transportation undo more recoveries than a lack of willpower ever has, which is why the Hub keeps job help and resource navigation in the same building as the meetings.

How to Join

There is no cost and no application. Walk in during operating hours, call, or request a virtual appointment. Hub locations and current group times are listed at startcorp.org — service areas include Houma, Thibodaux, Morgan City, Baton Rouge, Covington, and the greater New Orleans region, and staff will speak with anyone anywhere in Louisiana.
