About Prevent Child Abuse Vermont – Circle of Parents

Prevent Child Abuse Vermont (PCAVT) operates the Circle of Parents program, a network of peer-led parent support groups across the state. Circle of Parents brings together parents and caregivers in supportive group settings where they can share experiences, learn from one another, and build the skills and connections needed to strengthen their families. PCAVT also offers the evidence-based Nurturing Parenting Program and parent coaching services throughout Vermont.

What Groups Are Offered?

Circle of Parents offers peer-led support groups for parents and caregivers at locations throughout Vermont. Specialized groups include groups for parents in recovery from substance use, grandparents raising grandchildren, LGBTQ+ parents, parents of color, adoptive and foster parents, and general parenting support. The Nurturing Parenting Program provides structured, evidence-based parenting education classes. Parent coaching offers individualized one-on-one guidance for families.

Who Can Join?

Circle of Parents groups are open to any parent or caregiver in Vermont who wants support, connection, and skills for raising healthy families. Groups are voluntary and welcoming—you do not need a referral. Specialized groups serve specific populations but all parents are encouraged to find a group that fits their needs. Children are welcome and supervised activities may be available during meetings.

Meeting Schedule & Location

Circle of Parents groups meet at locations throughout Vermont on regular weekly or biweekly schedules. Meeting sites include community centers, libraries, schools, and partner organizations across the state. Virtual group options are also available. What to Expect

Circle of Parents groups provide a warm, judgment-free space where parents support one another. Groups are peer-led by trained parent leaders who understand the joys and challenges of parenting. Meetings include structured discussion time, sharing of experiences and strategies, and community building. The atmosphere is supportive and focused on empowering parents rather than evaluating them. Childcare may be provided during meetings at some locations.

Cost & Confidentiality

All Circle of Parents groups and PCAVT parenting programs are free of charge. What is shared in groups is kept confidential. PCAVT does not report group discussions to any outside agencies, and participation is entirely voluntary.
