About Roanoke Vet Center
The Roanoke Vet Center is a community-based counseling center operated by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, serving veterans, active duty service members, and their families in the Roanoke Valley and surrounding southwest Virginia communities. The center provides readjustment counseling, PTSD treatment, military sexual trauma support, bereavement counseling, and group therapy in a confidential, non-medical environment staffed by licensed clinicians who understand military culture.
What Groups Are Offered?
The Roanoke Vet Center offers group counseling for combat veterans, PTSD processing groups, military sexual trauma support groups, transition and readjustment groups, and bereavement support. Groups are led by licensed counselors with expertise in military-related trauma. Individual and family counseling complement group programming, and staff assist with referrals to additional VA and community resources.
Who Can Join?
Services are available to veterans who served in combat zones or areas of hostility, veterans who experienced military sexual trauma, active duty service members (including National Guard and Reserve), and their families. No VA healthcare enrollment or service-connected disability rating is required.
Meeting Schedule & Location
The center is located in Roanoke with services during regular business hours and some evening availability. Group sessions meet on regular weekly schedules. Walk-ins are welcome.
