About The Purple Door
The Purple Door is the primary domestic violence and sexual assault service provider for the Coastal Bend region of Texas, based in Corpus Christi. For decades, The Purple Door has provided emergency shelter, crisis intervention, counseling, legal advocacy, and support groups for survivors of family violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and human trafficking. Their licensed clinicians and trained advocates offer comprehensive, trauma-informed care to help survivors move from crisis to safety and healing.
What Groups Are Offered?
The Purple Door offers therapeutic support groups facilitated by licensed counselors for adult survivors of domestic violence, a sexual assault survivors group, children’s counseling groups for young witnesses of family violence, and teen dating violence awareness groups. Psychoeducational programming covers topics such as safety planning, understanding the cycle of abuse, healthy relationship skills, and parenting after violence. Both English and Spanish groups are available.
Who Can Join?
Services are available to any survivor of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking, or human trafficking in the Coastal Bend region (Nueces County and surrounding areas). Services are provided regardless of gender, age, immigration status, disability, or income. You do not need to be residing in the shelter to access counseling and support group services.
Meeting Schedule & Location
Support groups are held at The Purple Door’s Corpus Christi offices and at community outreach locations throughout the Coastal Bend. Specific group schedules and locations are provided during intake to protect participant safety. Some virtual options may be available.

What to Expect
Support groups at The Purple Door are led by licensed counselors in a safe, confidential environment. Groups provide a space to process experiences, build coping skills, and connect with other survivors. An initial intake and safety assessment is completed before group placement. Advocates are also available to help with protective orders, housing, and connecting to additional community resources.

All services at The Purple Door are provided at no cost to survivors. Strict confidentiality is maintained in accordance with Texas state law and federal VAWA regulations. Shelter locations are kept confidential, and all client records are protected.
