About This Group

Al-Anon Family Groups and Alateen provide peer-led support for families and friends of individuals with alcohol use problems across South Dakota. These 12-step groups help family members understand that they are not alone, learn healthy coping strategies, and find serenity regardless of whether the alcoholic in their life is still drinking.

What to Expect

Al-Anon meetings follow a structured format with sharing, readings from Al-Anon literature, and peer support. Members share their experience, strength, and hope with one another. Alateen meetings are specifically designed for teenagers (ages 11–18) affected by someone else’s drinking. Meetings are confidential, peer-led, and welcoming to newcomers. There is no pressure to speak, and listening is always an option.
