About Family Support Centers of Utah
Family Support Centers of Utah is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening families and preventing child abuse and neglect. Operating in Salt Lake City and Taylorsville with statewide reach, the center provides free family mentoring, parenting education, crisis respite nursery services, youth education programs, and information and referral services for families with children from birth to age 17. Licensed family support specialists and trained mentors work alongside families to build resilience and healthy parent-child relationships.
What Groups Are Offered?
The center offers evidence-based parenting education classes, family support groups, stress management workshops, and youth development programs. Parenting classes cover topics such as positive discipline, child development, managing challenging behaviors, and building healthy family communication. The Family Mentor Program pairs trained volunteer mentors with families for one-on-one support and community connection. The 24-hour crisis respite nursery provides emergency childcare when parents are in crisis.
Who Can Join?
Services are available to any family in Utah with children from birth to age 17. Programs are designed for families experiencing stress, isolation, or challenges related to parenting. No income requirements, referrals, or insurance needed—services are free and voluntary. Families self-refer or are connected through community partners, schools, and healthcare providers.
Meeting Schedule & Location
Parenting classes and groups are offered on regular schedules at locations in Salt Lake City and Taylorsville. Home-based family mentoring visits are scheduled at times convenient for the family.
