The Sharing Place – Grief Support for Children & Families (Salt Lake City, UT)
About The Sharing Place
The Sharing Place is Utah’s dedicated grief support center for children, teens, and their families who are coping with the death of a loved one. With locations in Salt Lake City, West Valley (Taylorsville), Pleasant Grove, and St. George, The Sharing Place provides a safe, nurturing environment where young people and their families can process grief, share their experiences, and find healing alongside others who understand their loss.
What Groups Are Offered?
The Sharing Place offers age-specific grief support groups for children ages 3–18 and concurrent groups for their parents or caregivers. Groups are organized by age: preschool (3–5), elementary (6–8 and 9–12), and teens (13–18). Each group uses developmentally appropriate activities, art, play, and discussion to help participants express their feelings and learn healthy coping strategies. Groups are facilitated by trained professionals and volunteers with expertise in childhood bereavement.
Who Can Join?
Any child or teen (ages 3–18) who has experienced the death of a parent, sibling, grandparent, friend, or other significant person is welcome, along with their parent or guardian. Groups are open to families from anywhere in Utah. There is no time limit on when after a loss a family can join—whether the death was recent or years ago.
Meeting Schedule & Location
Groups meet twice monthly for 90-minute sessions at locations in Salt Lake City, Taylorsville, Pleasant Grove, and St. George. Families are asked to commit to attending regularly. Registration is required before joining a group.
