We built My Therapy Groups because most therapist directories were not designed for group work. Group practices need different fields, different filters, and a different intake flow than solo providers. The resources below are ones we return to when we are setting up a new group, filling open seats, or thinking through the operational side of running groups.
If you have a resource that belongs here, we are open to suggestions. Email stephanie@mytherapygroups.com.
Directories worth knowing about
Most directories index individual therapists rather than groups, but a few do a thoughtful job covering the wider landscape. These three roundups are useful starting points if you are deciding where to list:
- MyTherapyFlow, “10+ Best Therapist Directories.” A clear comparison of the major directories, including pricing and ideal-fit notes. Read it on mytherapyflow.com.
- TherapyByPro, “30 Best Therapist Directories.” The most exhaustive list we have found, with a short pros-and-cons summary for each. Read it on therapybypro.com.
- CounselingWise, “The Top 8 Therapist Directories: Pros, Cons, and Costs to List Your Practice.” A practical, opinionated take aimed at private practices weighing where to spend their listing budget. Read it on counselingwise.com.
Billing and codes
CPT 90853 is the standard code for group psychotherapy (not family or multi-family). The American Psychological Association maintains current code descriptions and payer guidance at apaservices.org. Reimbursement varies by payer and state, so confirm the rate with each contracted plan before you set group pricing.
Filling and retaining a group
A few things we have learned the hard way: a clear screening call matters more than a polished landing page, an eight-week cohort fills more reliably than an open-ended drop-in, and a short waitlist signal on your intake page tends to increase conversion. We will write more on each of these over time.
About this list
We update this page as we find resources that earn a place on it. Last reviewed: May 2026. If you run a publication or tool that serves group clinicians, we would like to hear from you.
