About This Group
NAMI Dane County is a grassroots affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness serving the greater Madison area and surrounding Dane County communities. Founded on the belief that peer support is essential to mental health recovery, NAMI Dane County offers free education programs, support groups, and advocacy for individuals and families affected by mental illness. Their trained volunteer facilitators bring lived experience and compassion to every meeting.
Groups Offered
- NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group: Peer-led weekly group for adults living with mental health conditions, offering a structured yet relaxed environment to share experiences and coping strategies
- NAMI Family Support Group: For family members, partners, and friends of individuals with mental health conditions — a safe space to share challenges and find understanding
- Family-to-Family Education Course: Free 8-session course for families and caregivers, covering diagnosis, treatment, communication strategies, and self-care
- Peer-to-Peer Education Course: Free 8-session course for adults with mental health conditions, focused on recovery and wellness
Who Can Join
Open to all adults in the Madison and Dane County area affected by mental illness — whether personally or as a family member or caregiver. No referral, diagnosis, or insurance required. Education courses require pre-registration due to limited class sizes.

What to Expect
