Free Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support Groups Online | National Share

Share Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support (National Share) is a national nonprofit serving families whose lives have been touched by the death of a baby — through pregnancy loss, stillbirth, or in the first few months of life. Founded in 1977 by Sister Jane Marie Lamb, OSF, National Share is one of the oldest pregnancy and infant loss organizations in the country and runs free weekly online group chats, monthly in-person groups through state and local chapters, the Walking with You online community, and a 24/7 phone helpline at 1-800-821-6819.

What to Expect

National Share’s online support meets on a regular schedule — weekly group chats for the Pregnancy Loss Group (every Tuesday from 7-9 pm CST) and other condition-specific groups, all free of charge. The Walking with You online community is a moderated message board where bereaved families post and respond at their own pace, 24/7. Local Share chapters across the country host monthly in-person groups, often coordinated through hospitals and bereavement services. The 24/7 helpline at 1-800-821-6819 connects bereaved family members with peer counselors anytime. National Share also publishes resources, trains hospital bereavement teams, and supports the broader pregnancy and infant loss community.

Who This Group Is For

National Share serves families affected by pregnancy loss, stillbirth, and the death of a baby in the first few months of life. Members include parents, partners, grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles, and other family members. National Share’s longevity — nearly 50 years — means many families have intergenerational connections to the community: grandparents and parents who found Share for their own losses now supporting younger family members through theirs.

Why Peer Support Works

Pregnancy and infant loss often produces an unrecognized grief in broader culture — friends and coworkers don’t always understand why the loss matters, return-to-normal pressure can come quickly, and bereaved families can feel pressured to grieve in private. National Share’s peer support — weekly groups, online community, helpline — gives families a steady place where their loss is named and held over time. Many families describe National Share as the community that saw them through the longest months of grief.
