Free Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support Groups Online | Star Legacy

The Star Legacy Foundation is a national nonprofit focused on stillbirth prevention and supporting families navigating pregnancy and infant loss. Star Legacy runs more than 20 free virtual support groups every month — organized around specific loss experiences and identities — and pairs that peer community with research advocacy, education for clinicians, and ongoing family support resources. All Star Legacy support group facilitators are trained mental health professionals with first-hand experience or practice emphasis in perinatal loss.

What to Expect

Star Legacy’s free virtual support groups meet on a regular schedule across multiple time zones and serve specific loss communities — pregnancy loss, stillbirth, infant loss, subsequent pregnancy after loss, dads and partners, multicultural and BIPOC families, LGBTQ+ families, secondary loss (grandparents, siblings), and groups in Spanish. The frequency and specificity mean families can find a group that fits their exact situation rather than working through their grief in a generic mixed group. Star Legacy also runs the International Stillbirth Alliance annual conference, advocates for stillbirth research funding, and offers education for medical providers caring for families during and after loss.

Who This Group Is For

Star Legacy support groups serve families affected by pregnancy loss, stillbirth, and infant death across the country — mothers, fathers, partners, grandparents, siblings, and other family members. The breadth of group types means families with specific identities or loss circumstances (BIPOC families, LGBTQ+ families, families experiencing pregnancy after loss, etc.) can find peer communities tailored to their experience. Multilingual offerings extend access to Spanish-speaking families.

Why Peer Support Works

Pregnancy and infant loss often produces a particular kind of silence — friends, family, and even medical providers can struggle with how to respond, and bereaved families frequently describe feeling alone in their grief. Star Legacy’s peer support groups answer that silence by gathering families with shared loss experience, facilitated by professionals who themselves bring perinatal loss expertise. The specificity of the groups (loss type, identity, language, life stage) means members are sitting with peers whose experiences closely mirror their own.
