What to Expect
AA meetings in Iowa are available in multiple formats: open meetings (welcoming anyone interested in learning about AA), closed meetings (for those with a desire to stop drinking), speaker meetings, discussion meetings, Big Book study, and step study groups. At your first meeting, you’re welcome to simply listen — there’s no obligation to share. You’ll find a diverse community of people at various stages of recovery who share their experience and support one another. Coffee and fellowship before and after meetings are a common tradition.
