The Caregiver Coalition of Northeast Florida is a collaborative network of nonprofit, healthcare, and government organizations serving family caregivers across the Jacksonville region and surrounding counties. The Coalition runs free monthly caregiver education events, maintains a directory of free support groups in the region, and coordinates with partner agencies to make sure caregivers can find the right support without navigating a maze of separate organizations.
What to Expect
The Caregiver Coalition’s monthly Caregiver Educational Programs combine peer support with structured learning. Each program features a topic — dementia communication, navigating Medicare, end-of-life planning, self-care for caregivers, managing difficult family dynamics — and includes time for caregivers to connect with one another. Sessions are held both in person at sites around Jacksonville and virtually for caregivers who can’t attend in person. The Coalition’s site also maintains a regularly updated calendar of partner-led caregiver support groups, so caregivers can find a recurring group that fits their schedule and situation.
Who This Group Is For
The Coalition serves unpaid family caregivers throughout Duval, Clay, St. Johns, Nassau, Baker, and surrounding Northeast Florida counties. Members include adult children, spouses, partners, siblings, grandchildren, and friends. The Coalition’s network approach means caregivers can find support whether they’re caring for someone with dementia, Parkinson’s, cancer, a serious chronic illness, or just the slow needs of aging.
Why Peer Support Works
One of the biggest challenges facing family caregivers is figuring out where to start. Caregivers often discover late in the process that a free support group has been running near them for years. The Caregiver Coalition exists in part to shorten that distance — to make it easy for caregivers to find a group, attend an education session, and tap into the broader network of services in the region. Over time, the Coalition’s events build a community of caregivers who recognize one another and check in.
